About Course

This METIS Transition-to-Practice Programme supports final-year midwifery students as they prepare to enter professional practice. Through practical, portfolio-informed activities, students will reflect on their competencies, explore career pathways, prepare application materials, and build confidence for recruitment and early transition situations. The programme focuses on making students’ skills and experiences visible, helping them communicate who they are, what they bring to practice, and where they want to grow as future midwives.

What Will You Learn?

  • Describe the purpose of the METIS Transition-to-Practice Programme.
  • Identify their current thoughts and feelings about becoming a registered midwife.
  • Recognise transition into practice as a developmental process rather than a single event.
  • Name one or two personal priorities for the programme.
