Exploring Europass for the METIS Project

On Friday 26 June 2026, during one of our weekly METIS team meetings, we had the pleasure of attending an engaging Europass demonstration session led by Eray Canipek, Europass Coordinator for Flanders.

The ePortfolio is at the heart of the METIS project, which aims to design and implement innovative ePortfolio-based interventions for midwifery students, newly graduated midwives, mentors, and employers. By supporting career transitions in an innovative and empowering way, METIS seeks to contribute to greater retention, resilience, and sustainable employability within the midwifery profession.

The session highlighted several exciting opportunities for our project. Europass, a free platform available across Europe, could become an important METIS resource, providing a solid foundation for our job application training activities while allowing us to focus on content tailored specifically to the needs of midwives. We also explored a Dutch-developed course module that combines career reflection, based on the VDAB’s five-question framework, with a practical Europass demonstration—an approach that aligns closely with the objectives of METIS.

Looking ahead, the METIS team will participate in Europass user testing in September and October, providing a valuable opportunity to share feedback and advocate for enhancements that better support midwifery professionals throughout their career journeys.

Many thanks to Eray Canipek for the inspiring demonstration and the enthusiastic exchange of ideas. We look forward to further exploring how Europass can support the development of innovative career-transition tools within the METIS project.
