On 21 May, we presented the METIS-project at UGent’s Internationalisation Inspiration Afternoon. The event brought together staff supporting students, lecturers, and programmes, with a focus on strengthening internationalisation.
Our session, organised by the EU International Education Projects team, explored how Erasmus+ projects can act as a lever for international collaboration and enrich educational programmes. We provided an overview of funding opportunities, illustrated with practical examples, and included testimonials to make these possibilities more tangible. The session concluded with a Q&A.
While the focus was on projects with a direct impact on programmes, METIS offered an inspiring complementary example. Although not primarily designed for a specific UGent curriculum, it highlights how international collaboration can support a key goal in higher education: preparing students for the labour market. In doing so, it demonstrates the broader value of European education projects for strengthening education.
