The METIS consortium met for its second in-person project meeting in Athens on April 16–17, 2026, hosted by the University of West Attica (UNIWA). Building on the strong foundation established during the kick-off meeting in Ghent, partners focused on advancing key project components and moving more decisively into the implementation phase.
Over two days, partners from across Europe worked closely together to refine methodologies, align expectations, and coordinate upcoming activities. The meeting provided an opportunity to review progress across work packages, identify challenges, and ensure that all partners remain aligned with the project’s overall objectives and timelines.
A key focus of the meeting was the development of the project’s two main educational interventions. Significant progress was made on the Job Application Training module, which is designed to support final-year midwifery students in their transition from education to professional practice. The aim of the module is to combine self-paced online learning with in-person interview simulations, responding directly to students’ need for practical preparation, confidence-building, and structured guidance in navigating the job application process.
At the same time, partners advanced the CPD module, with discussions focusing on content development, learning objectives, and pedagogical approach. The module will be fully online and will incorporate interactive elements to support reflection, career development, and continuous professional growth. The module will be piloted at a later stage of the project, following further development and validation.
The meeting also underscored the value of working with midwives across diverse European contexts in this project setting. Close collaboration among partners has fostered a strong sense of commitment—and even friendship—which is essential for driving such an ambitious initiative forward.
At the same time, the team aligned on key upcoming milestones, including preparations for the Advisory Board meeting and coordination across work packages. By the end, partners had clarified next steps, strengthened collaboration, and reaffirmed their shared commitment to delivering practical, evidence-based solutions that support midwives throughout their professional journey.
